BOOK: Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom

I have recently read "Tuesdays with Morrie" written by Mitch Albom. This was given to me as a gift by my friend Ann (whom I introduced in my Halloween photos) who saw it in the train station on her way to work, and remembered that I was eager to read it - THANK YOU ANN!! It made me think about lifes choices, it made me smile, but mostly it made me cry - so terribly sad for such an amazing man to leave our world. Luckily we have this story to remember him forever along with his meaningful lessons in life.

About the book:

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it.
For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago.

Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded, and the world seemed colder. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger?

Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. I realise that I cry in everything from Ice Age to McDonald's commercials but this book is truly a never-ending tear-jerker. Aside from that, it is very thought provoking, truly inspiring and moving beyond words. I would also like to mention that this is not fiction but a true story based on real people. Tuesdays with Morrie was turned into a film starring one of my all time favourites, Jack Lemmon as Morrie Schwartz. I have not seen it yet but hope to in the near future.
